How does your role as in in-house counsel allow you to contribute to fostering a diverse and inclusive work place for women in the corporate sector?
I actively support diversity and inclusion for women in my capacity as in-house counsel by ensuring inclusive policies in place are reviewed. I also advocate for equitable opportunities.
Can you share an example of a legal challenge you've faced in your in-house role that specifically related to women's issues, and how you addressed it?
Recognizing the necessity for greater work-life balance was one the obstacles pertaining to women issues. As an in-house counsel, I have advocated for more flexible schedules that empower women to effectively balance the demands of both work and home life.
Are there any women in the legal field, past or present, who inspire you? If so, how have they influenced your journey?
The late Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Funke Adekola (SAN) are amongst the many gentlewomen who have inspired me in the legal field. Their commitment to equality and fairness has had a profound impact on me, inspiring me to pursue greatness.
What work place policies do you believe will make a big difference in supporting women's professional growth and well-being in the workplace?
I think that offering mentorship programs, putting in place flexible work schedules, and aggressively tackling gender wage disparities.
How do you balance legal responsibilities with the need to address social and ethical issues, particularly those related to women, within a corporate setting?
Integrating awareness into legal methods is necessary to strike a balance between legal obligations and social and ethical challenges.
For example, I make sure that our company policies actively advance gender equality and make a beneficial impact on society at large.
How do you maintain a sense of inspiration and purpose in your work as a woman in law, especially during times of uncertainty?
By coordinating my profession with topics I'm enthusiastic about, including advancing women's rights, I keep my inspiration and feeling of purpose alive. I'm inspired to have a significant influence in my position because of the link between my professional responsibilities and personal ideals.
Summary of your journey so far.
Early in my career, I faced challenges and conflicts that would have demoralised the faint-hearted. Nevertheless, I have seen every setback as a teaching opportunity.
I don't allow criticism get to me; instead, I welcome it with open arms and use it as a compass to help me live a successful life on both a personal and professional level. Being resilient has influenced my job and motivated me to produce results. This mindset fuels my personal development.
My path has involved both climbing the legal ladder and serving as a support system for others. I support the idea that one should approach obstacles with optimism.
As a senior legal manager, I have dedicated my professional life to navigating the complex web of legal issues that emerge in the business world. I have played a key role in managing regulatory compliance, advising on contract matters, and defending the company's legal interests.
Over the years, I've gotten better at risk management, handling conflicts, and strategic legal planning. It has been a rewarding experience to help the organisations I have worked for maintain their integrity and prosperity.
With my positive outlook and unshakable determination, I am sure that I will continue to be a source of inspiration for others and make a significant contribution to the legal profession.
