What inspired you to be a lawyer and how has that impacted you?

My journey into the legal profession was inspired by a decision I had to make in secondary school, and I stuck with it despite having varied interests in finance and economics. I know my career in law is not a traditional one, as I have served as a Commercial Law associate, a Tax Consultant, and currently lead legal and compliance at a thriving financial technology startup.

This journey has profoundly impacted my life as I've come to appreciate the interconnectedness of law with other disciplines and the critical importance of a multidisciplinary approach to navigating complex legal and financial landscapes. I have also been fortunate to have guidance from teachers, mentors, and senior colleagues, which has positively impacted my life.

How do we create more inclusion for women in law and society?

The only way to create more inclusion for women is to consistently maintain and promote a supportive and inclusive workplace culture where women are valued and respected.

Michelle Obama once stated that the measure of any society is how it treats its women.

Inclusion happens when we create opportunities for women to go to school, provide and support

scholarships to fund female education, and engage with them to participate in decision-making processes; ensuring equal access to resources and opportunities for professional development and advancement.
